Elva G. Garrison

Elva G. Garrison, 88, formerly of Cambridge, died Sunday, April 29, 2012, at the Care Center of Abingdon, IL. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 3rd, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Kewanee. Rev. Burnell Eckart will officiate. Burial will be at Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Elva Grace Morrison was born August 15, 1923 in Kewanee, the daughter of Lowell E. and Mabel A. Hepner Morrison. She was educated in Kewanee schools and graduated from Kewanee High School in 1941. Her marriage to Charles Garrison took place on June 22, 1947 in Kewanee. He passed away on March 3, 2007. Elva worked as a secretary first for the Henry County Cooperative Extension Service for several years and then at the law office of Telleen, Telleen, and Braendel in Cambridge.

Her memberships included St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Kewanee, and the Cambridge Homemakers Extension Unit. She was a member and past president of the Cambridge American Legion Auxiliary. Elva enjoyed flowers, gardening, and her grandson.

Those surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Mark Havens, Avon, IL, a grandson, Douglas Havens, several nieces and nephews including; Cindy (David) Ramsay, Peoria, Cathy (Clayton) Wright, O’Fallon, MO, Marcia (Vern) Jones, Davenport, Terry (Michelle) Hargadine, Florida, and Michael Hargadine, Florida. Her parents, her husband, and sister, Lela Hargadine, preceded her in death.
