Marjorie E. Tremont, 95, of Kewanee, died at 9:06 AM, Friday, May 4, 2012 at Kewanee Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, May 7 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Rev. William R. Toliver will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 PM, Sunday, May 6 at the funeral home with a VFW Ladies Auxiliary service conducted at 5:00 PM. Burial will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens. Memorials may be directed to the Henry County Humane Society.
She was born on February 20, 1917 in Kewanee, the daughter of Tayfield and Clara (VanHefte) Verscha. She married Henry P. Tremont on December 6, 1941 in Abingdon, IL. and he preceded her in death on August 25, 2000. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Bernadine and Caroline and 3 brothers, Bernard, Emile and Eugene. She is survived by a brother, Edward Verscha of Kewanee, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great -great nieces and nephews.
Marjorie had worked at Leisure Hills Nursing Home and at Boss Manufacturing. in Kewanee. She was a member of the First Congregational Church and had been the overseer of the First Congregational Church Nursery. She was also a member of the Kewanee VFW Post 8078 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading and bowling which she was active in until two years ago and had also been inducted into the Kewanee Bowling Hall of Fame.
